Only 2 more days to go!!!!

It’s Wednesday morning and I fly out on Friday afternoon.  Right now I am just trying to concentrate on wrapping everything I need to up at work and enjoying the next couple of days with the boys and Kim.  I now have a much clearer understanding of my roster and what I’ll be doing each day.  I have two 4.15am starts which should be fun, but one of those days runs non stop til the Welcome Party which then goes til midnight, so hopefully all this work at the gym and eating well will give me the stamina to go the distance.

At the moment I am just thinking about what I will get up to on my first couple of days in HK on my own.  I definitely want to do some of the touristy things like the star ferry, the peak and definitely hitting the markets.

That’s it for now, see you in HK or perhaps Singapore if I cant sleep.

This is a pick of some of the first horses arriving in HK on Saturday, I think the Aussie horses fly out today.

What am I doing in Hong Kong??

First and foremost I am going to be part of the Eventing - Three Day Event, the first Equestrian Event of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

I am an Sport Specific Volunteer, which means I am a volunteer for the Games but specific to the Eventing.  More specifically my role is as an Fence Judge Assistant for the Cross Country.  I commence my service period on 5 August and finish after the Eventing finishes.

I leave Australia on 1 August bound for HK via Singapore (just because it was much cheaper) and have a couple of days free to do some sights and shopping before reporting for work.

During my service period I will do training and orientation, get to watch much of the competition, help out on the official course walk for spectators as well as the main event on Cross Country day.  In all I am away for about 13 days.

This is my new blog site

I have worked through the earlier technical difficulties and think I have it nailed.  Best of all I can publish direct from email, so I don’t need to sit down at a computer to add either a comment or picture.

This is the link that should now work to my interview on ABC 1233 Radio with Simone Thurtell.  Thank you to Simone and the team at ABC for the Audio.

I have moved

Due to some technical difficulties I have moved my blog site to this one.  Hopefully I will have less issues with some of the more interesting things like pics, audio and video.

So here it goes.
